Meaning of the chant
Om, (Great Treasure Lord) You are the Lord of Valuable Treasures, (Having Rule over riches and precious rain)
Grant me, (The Yogi) the blessing of achieving wealth. Effortlessly, without desires, (The Wisdom Jewel, Wish-fulfilling Tree). May all wishes be fulfilled.
Benefits of the chant
The prayer is offered towards the Zambalas, who are believed to be the manifestations of Bodisattvas and Buddha’s compassion. The mantra can be chanted by anyone who wants to be guided along the pathway to enlightenment. It has the potential to help the unfortunate and the poor.
History of the chant
According to a Tibetan legend, the chant came into existence when Lama Atisha was trying to help a starving man; Chenrezig of Compassion appeared, announcing that he will become Zambala, the God of Wealth, to ensure that those in poverty no longer suffer.
Important information
It is said that there are five Zambalas: Green, White, Yellow, Red, and Black.
